I am Toni Bright and I have been with my partner in travel and life, Sally Bright, for the last nine years. Sally is a teacher here in San Jose and when she retires in about 3 years our plan is to set out on the road as full-timers. We will see and record whatever the road takes us to.
I have been a traveler all my life. It’s not the type of travel that most people think about like back packing across the USA and Europe seeking employment along the way to support the habit. It rather a restlessness that has moved me from Southeaster Pennsylvania in my youth all the way to where I live now with my wonderful spouse Sally. Along the way I have had stops in South Carolina, Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, and for the last 30 years in California. I have traveled overseas annually to the Philippines and neighboring countries since 2002.
My modes of travel have been car, motorcycle, bus, train, boat, and RV. When I was in high school and college I worked summers on oil tankers for Sunoco with stops in Maine, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, the Caribbean, and South America. I have hiked in the Appalachians, the Rockies, and even the Pineys of New Jersey when I was 14 with my best friend, Carl, at the time who was 1 year younger to the day. Carl and I drove his parents Jeep CJ across the United States, from Philadelphia to San Francisco in 1966 when I was 17 and he was 16. We did this by ourselves figuring things out as we went along. This was before RVing became the craze that it is today.
Along the way I have been through college (University of South Carolina), a radical, married a few times, fathered two really great sons who are grown up now and making their own way in the world. I have worked in the restaurant industry (who hasn’t), supply chain, and spend time in the Navy. Six years were spent being a financial and retirement advisor with all the appropriate licenses. It turned out that I was a better planner than a salesman so for me it wasn’t “financially” rewarding.
I am retired now after 25 years in the Biotech and Pharma industry working all forms of supply chain management. This of course has led to a lot of free time to pursue what I love most. That is traveling in a recreational vehicle with an eye on “full timing” once Sally decides to retire from teaching.
To that end we have set up a business called TheBrightWayRvrs. The purpose of the business is to provide us with a living doing things that we love related to recreational vehicles and travel in those vehicles. Presently we have two, a Class A and a Class C. The A is a 2002 38 ft. Damon Intruder and the C is a 2015 32 ft. Winnebago Minnie Winnie. I’m not sure how Winnebago came up with that model name as it isn’t “Minnie”, lol. We have traveled a bit through the western US after significant upgrades to the interior and the suspension of the Intruder, which we fondly named Lakbay. That is pronounced lock-buy and is a Filipino term for traveler.
Part of TheBrightWayRVrs is renting to those families that wish to enjoy their free time traveling and exploring nature. Part of TheBrightWayRVrs is also to promote the RV traveling lifestyle and all of its rewarding features. We hope that we can make a living with TheBrightWayRVrs but that isn’t the primary goal of this venture. It is the challenge that we are presented with in providing enlightenment, fun, and memories to those that wish to share in our love for all that can be seen on the road.
We hope that you can enjoy the trip with us!
